Guide for
Punta Cana
Plan your trip to our event with peace of mind and safety by following the necessary guidelines for your stay in the Dominican Republic.
The electrical network is 110 volts and the sockets are of the “international American” type. Therefore, we recommend that you take a socket adapter.
The official currency is the Dominican peso, but the US dollar is widely accepted. Credit cards can also be used, but remember: not all countries accept contactless cards, so have a card on hand that can be used with the card or inserted.
Spanish
A humid tropical climate prevails, with sunshine all year round. The temperature fluctuates between 22ºC and 30ºC. Use sunscreen and drink lots of water. Be careful with jewelry and cash, hotels are unlikely to be responsible for theft or theft. Therefore, we recommend that you keep them with your personal belongings.
Don’t forget to check your document in advance. To board, it is recommended that your passport is valid for at least 6 (six) months.
If you are flying with a connection through the United States, even without leaving the airport, you will need to present a valid American visa. If you head towards the United States, there are entry procedures into the country that must be followed (look for local agencies for correct guidance).
The Dominican Republic requires the International Certificate of Vaccination (CIV) against yellow fever. Therefore, it is mandatory to take the vaccine at least 15 (fifteen) days before traveling.
In Brazil, the vaccine is free, valid for life and can be obtained at any health center. Just take your vaccination card.
It is important to highlight that the vaccination card is only valid in Brazil, that is, to prove that you are vaccinated against yellow fever, you must request the issuance of the International Certificate of Vaccination and Prophylaxis (CIVP) through the Anvisa portal, with Issuance period of 10 to 15 business days. Some regions issue the CIVP at health centers and it can be consulted on the website, clicking here.
All foreign and Dominican passengers entering or leaving the Dominican Republic on commercial flights must complete the free electronic entry and exit form, available at: https://eticket.migracion.gob.do. It must be completed before arriving at the airport, as it is mandatory to present it to the airline upon boarding. To avoid delays, it is advisable to complete the form before traveling.
If your specific hometown is not shown on the form, you can choose the nearest large city in your state or province. If you’re staying in a vacation rental, ask the host for the full address, including province, city, and sector.
If you are traveling as a family, you must fill out the form with the data of all family members who will be traveling, however, it is only necessary for a single user to be created in the system and for this user to fill in the data of all family members participating in this trip, up to 6 additional members to the person filling out the form (7 people in total per form). It is not necessary for each traveler from the same family to complete an individual form. If more than 7 people are traveling, you must fill out an additional form for the rest. Children do not fill out the Customs section, only adults. A single QR code will be generated for the family.
You can print or take a screenshot of arrival and departure confirmation QR codes. If you need to make any changes to the E-TICKET, you can consult it with the application code that was issued when you started filling out the form and make changes.
Passengers arriving on private flights, non-commercial vessels, ferries, cruise ships, etc., do not need to fill out the E-TICKET. Physical Customs Declaration and International Embarkation/Disembarkation forms will be accepted for the aforementioned passengers.

It can be requested at a Detran service unit (with ID and CNH), Driving School (CFC),

When checking in at most hotels, you must present a credit card as a guarantee for extra expenses, even if the accommodation has already been fully paid for. This procedure is a guarantee for the hotel in case of damage and payment of all extra expenses.
If you don’t have a credit card or prefer to use cash, it is possible. The price varies from hotel to hotel and also depends on the number of nights. If payment is made in cash, remember to get a receipt upon check-in, which is your only proof of the deposit. At checkout, present your receipt and get your money back. In the case of a credit card, the blocked amount will be returned to your statement.
When collecting the car from the rental company, it is mandatory to present a credit card (cash and debit cards are not accepted) owned by the renter, within the expiration date, issued by a banking institution and with a limit available to block the security deposit. This amount varies from USD 1,000.00 to USD 3,000.00 depending on the category of car rented. After returning the car, if there are no damages or amounts related to fuel charges or additional km (according to the contract), the blocked amount will be returned to your account.
They are paid locally on the roads. Always choose to have local currency on hand to make these payments or rent a device “non-stop” from the car rental company, if available at the time of pick-up, and find out about the charges. Never sign anything at a car rental company without first reading the contract.
Payment of tips is not required in hotels, restaurants and services outside Brazil. This is a very common practice for Americans and especially in the Caribbean, where employees expect this value from the customer because they are very used to it. It is up to the passenger whether or not to pay the tip or “bribe”, as it is called in Spanish. This amount can vary from USD 1 to USD 10. In the case of cruises, find out if the tip is already included in the price paid for your cabin.
If you extend your trip to the United States, some hotels will charge fees for the use of WiFi, beach service (when available) and other services. This amount varies between USD 20 and USD 50 per night per apartment depending on the hotel chosen, and will be charged at checkout.
